The headline act of the fourteenth edition of Slunovrat will be Irish musician Glen Hansard, a member of the iconic band The Frames and an Academy Award winner. Hansard appeared at Slunovrat last November, when he and Markéta Irglová filled Church of St. Wenceslas to capacity with an unforgettable performance.
Glen clearly fell in love with Opava. After a long and friendly conversation with the festival organisers following the concert, he promised to return soon – and he has kept his word. Despite an exceptionally busy schedule, he will now return to Slunovrat with his own repertoire, including songs from his new album Don’t Settle (Transmission East), due for release on 24 April. He will be making a special stop in Opava as part of his world tour, which is selling out some of the most renowned concert halls from New York and London to Paris.
At Slunovrat, he will join more than a hundred inspiring musicians and bands, along with leading figures from culture, media, science, and other areas of public life. Over the course of three days – from Thursday, 18 June, to Saturday, 20 June – festivalgoers will have the chance to encounter them in the beautiful historic buildings and public spaces of Opava.
