Jaroslav Rudiš & U-Bahn

Berlin, trains, poetry, and punk. Jaroslav Rudiš reunites with Petr Kružík, guitarist of the cult Czech band Priessnitz, to bring the world of Rudiš’s novel Nebe pod Berlínem (Heaven Beneath Berlin) to life. The story of a thirty-year-old teacher who leaves Prague for Berlin, forms a band called U-Bahn, and falls in love becomes a wild musical and literary ride through the city’s underground.

Rudiš’s intense, at times almost feverish delivery meets Kružík’s raw guitar and hypnotic soundscapes. This is no conventional author reading with musical accompaniment, but a 70-minute performance somewhere between literature, live music, and punk theatre. All aboard!
